[That's cute- she likes it already, and Delight leans forward with a small nod, eager to hear what Emily has to say. Delight isn't exactly the most intimidating god, but she is at least personable, so she's definitely a good choice to start with.]
[Off to a good start. Emily relaxes a little, not enough that anyone could tell, but Delight is a god, so who knows.]
Okay. So, I don't know if you've noticed, but we're kind of limited as far as clothes here. They're not, like, unwearable or whatever, but they're not great. And for a lot of people, looking good makes us feel good.
I'm not saying "give us designer clothes". [No matter how easy that would make Emily's life.] But it'd make a lot of us really happy to wear nice clothes. Good fabric, cute patterns, designed to actually fit them -- you know?
[And now for the proposition part.] If you give us supplies, I can learn how to sew and make people clothes. It'll definitely make me happy. And I could show people what to do, so more of us can make more clothes. People will not just get to choose what they'll wear, but help create it. Does that sound good?
[It should, but being that Delight is the only one of the gods that Emily likes, she's being polite about it. This is pretty much her one shot, after all.]
[But she has to consider it, mostly because the entire concept seems absolutely strange to her. She's wearing clothes too, of course, but only because the humans here all do- Delight still isn't entirely sure what purpose they actually serve. None of the nonhuman creatures here have similar needs, do they?]
You want things to make your clothes with? What kinds of things do you need for that?
[It'll be so worth your while, Delight, just by Emily's delight alone.]
Well, fabric, for one -- like cotton or silk, or synthetic stuff like polyester. There's already stuff around here to draw designs with, so that's covered. A dress form or two, optionally. Good shears, thread, needles, sewing machines... I mean, we could probably do it by hand, but it'd take a lot longer.
[Try though she might, Emily can't help but frown a little. She's blowing it. This place is making her soft, and the event with the dreams really messed her up. Jeez, she should've planned this better. Or sent Chris to do this. Everybody loves Chris.]

[She sounds more discouraged by this than anything- she wants to help, but this sort of thing sounds rather intensive.]
Could you salvage any of that from what Hope already gives you? Fabric from other clothes, maybe? I'm not sure what a dress form or sewing machine is, either- can you explain those to me?
You're right. Sorry. [Emily is pissed at herself for how she approached this (goddamn nerves), but she can still salvage her efforts.]
I can get shears, needles, and threads from what Hope has already given us, and I don't need a dress form. Fabric... just some soft cotton in a few different colors would be a nice change from what we have to pick from.
[As for the sewing machine, Emily sketched one to show Delight, so she sends that file over to her now.] It can do anything a human can, but faster and sturdier. It doesn't have to be fancy or anything.
Don't be sorry! I'm just trying to figure all of this out.
[She feels bad that she can't give Em what she wants, really. Delight squints down at the drawing, considering it for a few moments. Between maintaining the bar and other requests, she's been asked for a lot, and as the weakest god, it's difficult to deliver entirely, no matter how much making people happy is a goal of hers.
Hm.]
-okay, how's this: I can probably get you the fabric you need, but in return, I'd like you to tell me about a happy memory for each bolt. Your friends can do it too, when you want more.
[There's a pause, before she continues.]
...I don't think I could make this machine for you. One of the other gods probably could if you asked- they're stronger than me. They might want something in return, but that's all I can do.
[Victory! A small one, but given how badly she thought she'd fucked this up, Emily will take it. Her eyes brighten as she nods and smiles.]
That's totally enough to work with, thank you so much. Don't worry about the machine. We can make this work for now. If more people want custom clothes, then we'll ask one of the others.
[And now, Emily will immediately make good on her part of the bargain.]
Okay, so. A few months ago, my mom and I bought the kimono I'm going to wear for my twentieth birthday. That's a really big deal birthday. Shopping for it was fun. I don't spend a lot of time with my parents since I started college, so it was nice to like, know that we can still do cool stuff like that together.
[It's only when she finishes telling it that Emily realizes that isn't something she's shared quite like this before. She just shared a piece of herself with some strange lady who calls herself a god. Meanwhile, when she'd told Jess, she'd just gushed about how pretty she was going to look in it.
If that memory isn't good enough, she's not sure what will be.]
[She listens to the story with a small nod, considering it and turning it over in her mind. The intricacies of humans don't make much sense to her, but she can feel Emily's pleasure at the memory, and that's something.]
[Hmm. How do you explain something that's just part of normal life to you?]
It's school. You go after high school to learn more about a subject that really interests you, so you can get a job in that field. You can go to a school close to home, or one in another country. It's kind of like you get a chance to practice being an adult before you have to get a job and support yourself.
[Her view is a little skewed, but Delight wouldn't have reason to know that. There's honestly so much to talk about, but not enough time.]
Well, legally you're an adult at eighteen where I'm from. [For some things. YEAH IT'S WEIRD.] Though honestly, some people are like, thirty or so? And they still act like kids.

Awesome, thank you so much! You're the best, Delight.
